Els croissants són originaris de la ciutat de Viena, on es van crear per commemorar la fi del setge de 1683 pels turcs. Actualment són típics en els esmorzars, sobretot a França, per a acompanyar la llet o el cafè.

L’ensaïmada és originària de Mallorca però avui en dia la consumim a diferents indrets de manera habitual. El nom prové del fet que es fa amb Saïm.

L’origen del forat del Dònut és incert però es diu que va ser el 1847 que el mariner Hansen Gregory, fart que els dònuts del vaixell tinguessin el centre cru, va agafar un saler de llauna i el va clavar a la pasta com si fos un motlle.

El broix és una massa lleugera, dolça i senzilla que permet moltes variacions. A part del brioix original senzill hi ha moltes varietats de brioixos o productes de brioixeria.
